Help#HelpThe place to go when you can't find the answers! #Help is staffed by server owners and their trusted opers and will assist you within their ability to do so subject to a few guidelines as listed below. What we can help withWe can help you with server commands, IRC commands, Services, setting up a room, registering a nickname, tell you what certain room/user modes do and if we are bored or feel like it for some other reason we may even give some limited client support, such as basic connection settings in mIRC. We will also consider any complaints but only if they are serious and genuine and can be backed up with evidence. What we can't help withScript support, requests to be unbanned from rooms, requests to ask a room host why you were banned, requests for o:lines or links (the answer is here already "NO"), requests to be opped in rooms, requests to butt in on petty room affairs. Our o:lines policyAn o:line (access to a server as an oper) is special access and is granted on the basis of need. People, in the humble opinion of the server owners, may at some stage, get an opportunity to help out by being an oper, starting out as a local oper and becoming a global oper if you cut the mustard. You will get any training you need at the time. So if your plan is to acquire knowledge or beg in order to think your chances of getting an o:line will improve then you are mistaken. Generally we will only grant this access if we know and trust the individual. Notice how the term 'applicant' was not used in this paragraph. That is because we do not accept applications. The granting of an o:line is done on the spur of the moment and will be based solely on need, trust and our belief that the individual can work without supervision and most importantly, follow directions from the administrators. If you beg for an o:line, your chances of getting one will diminish dramatically. Other good ways of missing out are: stating that you are/were an oper on another network, stating that you have used IRC for a long time or stating that you are skilful or l337, etc. Our linking policyWe have deliberately set up a small network of, currently, three servers and soon to expand to five (not including Services). Induced IRC's policy is to promote from within and only on the basis of strategic need. We will not entertain the thought of linking to networks owned by people we do not know nor will we link to servers hosted on shell accounts. It has been adequately demonstrated in the past that both these situations are detrimental to our values and requirements. So the bottom line is this: Unless you have known the network owners personally for a considerable amount of time (years not months) then your chance of linking to Induced IRC is practically nought. Services HelpWe run a services server comprising ChanServ for room registration, NickServ for name registration, MemoServ for the sending of small messages between registered users and HelpServ for self-assistance with IRC and Services commands. Please note that flooding services or using MemoServ to unduly harass other users is a breach of our network policies. The fewer un-necessary posts sent to the server, the more available bandwidth will exist for you and others to benefit from. NOTE: This page is yet to be completed. We'll let you know when further stuff will have been added. Keep visiting for further updates on this! |
